Geometry Problem

1. Imagine that you are building a chicken coop and want to place it in your backyard. Your very attentive neighbor points out that, in order to meet city code, the coop must be no fewer than 50 feet from any neighboring residence. Draw a plan of your property and the properties of your three nearest neighbors, being sure to accurately depict the proportion and location of each residence.  Shade in the areas in which you cannot legally place the coop.  How much area is left over?  Is it large enough to contain the coop that you already spent a month painstakingly building?  Does its location within this area of your yard look ridiculous?  How sad and defeated do you feel?  Show your work.  (Hint: You might want to use a 50-foot string to check your answer in your actual backyard.)
