I think we are all feeling this one... Is it really necessary? Are kids starting using these things too early? I think the important thing is that you are aware of it! There are so too many who have no idea what their little ones are doing. Good luck! I personally, don't let mine use any devise with adult supervision.
I read a Slate article the other day that said that one way to get more girls interested in tech jobs is to encourage them to play video games. The article pointed out that most computer programmers found their calling through mastering and then trying to figure out how to trick/improve their favorite video games. So, I guess a balance of reading, sports, art, music, scientific investigation, AND video games is the secret to successfully raising a child these days. I can easily check one off the list now!

don't feel guilty. You are preparing them for amazingly successful futures, for which they will need to know these computery skillz :)
